  • June 24, 2016: Our third cohort is complete: Robert, Lukas, Kostas, Karsten, and Olga will do their PhD with us from October. Tizian will join as an affiliate.
  • February 4, 2016: Congratulations to Olga, David and Roman - the awardees of our travel scholarship to Vancouver.
  • July 21, 2015: A delegation of NSERC, CFI and DFG visited DiDy. (press release)
  • April 23, 2015: The first DiDy members started out for their 6-months research stay at SFU. Have a nice trip! (SFU press release)
  • April 17, 2015: The first PhD defense of a DiDy member: Dany Doerr (affiliated student). Congratulations!
  • October 2014: Students of the second cohort started (Welcome Nicole, Georges, Liren, Markus, Yoga, Lu, and Tina!) and we moved into our new offices.
  • August 21, 2014: The renovation of our new rooms has started. Hopefully, we can move in end of September.
  • Mai 18, 2014: Deadline of the current application round passed.
  • February 3, 2014: Our new study regulations have officially been released.
  • December 31, 2013: Deadline of the second application round passed.
  • October 1, 2013: DiDy, go for it! Our program started today…
  • August 20, 2013: Our partners in Vancouver launched their website: MADD-Gen
  • August 16, 2013: Our first cohort is complete: Benedikt B., Benedikt L., Guillaume, Henner, Madis, Nina, and Tina are ready to go.
  • July 18, 2013: Our first application workshop is over. We thank all participants and guests from Vancouver!
  • June 7, 2013: Deadline of first application round passed. We received about a hundred applications.
  • May 3, 2013: Projects online. First application round begins.

Mission Statement

In the joint bioinformatics graduate school of Bielefeld University and Simon Fraser University, we train and support young researchers in becoming successful academics and developing computational methods for the analysis of both the variation between individuals (diversity) and the change in populations over time (dynamics).
