Within their existing undergraduate and graduate programs, both universities offer courses in molecular biology and genetics, computing sciences, and bioinformatics methods development and applications. Students entering our program are advised to attend some of these courses in order to complement their existing knowledge and quickly reach a stage of productive project work.

Basic information of soft- and professional skills, and rules of good scientific practice will be provided/discussed within the DiDy group seminar “Diversity and Dynamics of Genomes” (see above). More detailed knowledge and training is provided by dedicated seminars or courses within our program (see Events), or by the Coaching and Supervision program PEP of Bielefeld University.
